Most participate in the annual Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque. New Mexico is a beautiful land of adobe houses, awesome mountains, sweeping deserts, mild weather and many days of sunshine. You'll find that Rio Communities, near Belen, is a great place to retire, because you have the advantage of a relaxed lifestyle: no lawn to mow (unless you make the decision to plant one); the availability of low pueblo-style buildings which are easy to get into, and year-round accessibility to Albuquerque - just 30 miles away on I-25. If you're interested in gardening, you'll find plenty of inspiration in our beautiful Water Conservation Garden right here in Rio Communities. We have a golf course and walking trails for when you want to be active, and plenty of people with whom you can get into arts and crafts if you desire. There are also opportunities for volunteers. If you enjoy genealogy, Albuquerque has excellent resources. You may be interested in going to school; if so, the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is located in Las Maravillas. Or you may want to use local Internet access and utilize distance education, checking out some of the Links below. Flying
